Ocean Life Project
Create a poster, a booklet, a website (using Weebly for example) or an iMovie to showcase your learning of one of these topics. Record the websites and the names of the books you used in your research. Share it with the class in May or June!
Topics:
1) The Sea Otters in BC were once hunted until they were extinct about 300 years ago. Why did this happen? When there were no more Sea Otters, what happened to the Kelp Forests? Check out this website and this book: http://www.vanaqua.org/learn/aquafacts/otters-and-pinnipeds/sea-otters

2) There are many Sea Birds that live in British Columbia. Choose 2 birds and report on:
- Where they nest and when they lay eggs.
- What they eat
-If they migrate or not
- Where in BC can you spot one
This slideshow might help you choose a bird to research on: http://www.raincoast.org/media/videos/slideshow-of-raincoast-birds/
3) Some people in British Columbia are worried about what would happen IF an oil spill happened in our oceans. Find out the facts, and then report on:
- Why do oils spills happen?
- Which animals are harmed?
- What do humans do to clean up an oil spill? Can humans clean it up properly?
- Has an oil spill happened in BC before? Where? When?
This website might help.
